What Would A Pumpkin Say If It Could Talk?
Have your students imagine they’re walking through the pumpkin patch, and they see a whole field of pumpkins. What would the pumpkins want to tell them? Would they ask you to pick them? This is a great exercise in imagery for your kiddos as they learn to think of the point of view of a pumpkin.
What If You Lived In A Pumpkin House?
The next pumpkin writing prompt is a fun one. Make sure to give your students a lot of probing questions to help them describe their pumpkin house.
- Who would live there with you?
- Is all of your furniture made of pumpkin?
- What happens when you’re hungry? Do you cook in your pumpkin kitchen or do you just eat the walls?
- Describe what your house smells like
This is a great writing activity when you’re teaching adjectives!
A Day In The Life Of A Pumpkin
Ask your students, “When you go to school, what do you think the pumpkins in the pumpkin patch are doing? Are they having adventures? Are they daydreaming of what Jack-o’-Lantern they might be one day? This pumpkin writing prompt will help your students practice their narrative writing as they write all about a pumpkin’s day.
Who Is A Pumpkin’s BFF?
Since November is coming, it’s a great time to start talking about friendship. So ask your students if they were a pumpkin, who would their BFF be? Maybe the farmer? Or another pumpkin? Or would it be the scarecrow in the field?
This is a pumpkin writing prompt that can also help you brainstorm and categorize a list of pumpkin vocabulary. You could even do an interactive writing assignment where you create the list together, and each student can choose from the list of pumpkin friends to write their piece.
What Costume Would A Pumpkin Choose?
This pumpkin writing prompt is super fun for students because they get to choose a costume for someone else. Or maybe they’d like to be twins and have the pumpkin wear their costume this year!
